I almost don’t want to share the magic of this place with others because it’s that good. Every single item on the menu is home made and insanely delicious. Get the tacos... brisket, el pastor and shrimp were to die for. Also the margaritas were the best I’ve had in Charlotte. Seriously you are missing out if you haven’t been here.

We've eaten here a couple of times now, and I can definitely say that the food is always top-notch, and the service has been fantastic. The fried calamari was absolutely cooked to perfection (if anything could be said that might be a tiny bit of a downside is that we would have loved a bigger portion size to share, but in reality that's probably a hidden "pro" rather than a "con" because it's an indicator that it was so delicious and tender). The burgers were thick and juicy! My wife liked the look of my street tacos so much that she traded me a portion of her hamburger so that she could try one of my steak tacos! At first I wasn't inclined to do so, but you all know the saying, "Happy Wife Makes a Happy Life!" so of course I agreed (glad I did because the hamburger was awesome too). The owner-operator even took the time to come by to check on us, and we took a moment of his time to ask about the history of his establishment. He used to operate a food truck, but had the opportunity to park the rig and open the brick & mortar restaurant (which was added onto the long established Hickory Hills Smoked Products business), which he called "a blessing." Long story short, if you're anywhere near the area, I'd highly recommend this hidden gem in the heart of Van Wyck.

Ya’ll! Run now to The smokin Rail and eat! They used to be a food truck that came to our neighborhood and when they got a brick and mortar we said we will go anywhere for their food bc it is absolutely phenomenal! The owner is incredibly nice and even remembered us from coming to our neighborhood! The food is fresh! Large portions! The California burrito is stuffed full of meat and the nachos too. You can guarantee it’s going to be good!!!! Please support this establishment, I can gurantee you won’t be disappointed! It is in Van Wyck! Our second time here and was just as delicious as the first time. Good selection of food and pretty cool atmosphere. Brisket is delicious. Surf and turf was awesome and our son likes the rice bowls offered. Highly recommend if in the area.

Went there for an early lunch and was immediately struck by the warm, rustic, inviting atmosphere. We were greeted right away with menus and a drink request, which came quickly. The menu contains a good choice of assorted meats. We decided on the calamari to start. It was fried but not greasy but was flavorful and tasty. For our lunch we got the brisket taco special and Gordo’s Philly sandwich. The brisket was fantastic with a nice smokey flavor and served on corn tortillas with cilantro, onion, and a little shredded cheese as a base. The philly was made of chunky beef nuggets that were juicy and full of flavor. It was topped with onions, peppers, cheese and Gordo’s special sauce. Amazing! Definitely going back.

This local place is a Gem! Staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food has always been absolutely delicious, packed with so much flavor. You can tell that they use quality ingredients and know what they are doing! Unfortunately, this last visit we ate everything so quickly that I forgot to take any pics. I did however get one of their desserts, banana pudding. This was not some imitation flavored pudding with nilla wafers, no this was homemade and so amazing! I am thankful we live so close and we will continue to be customers as often as we can.
